MetalCore will enter open beta on September 12, featuring its inaugural in-game content season titled “MetalPunk Rhapsody.” This significant update will transition the Ethereum-based game, built on the layer-2 scaling network Immutable zkEVM, to Unreal Engine 5, introducing a host of new features.
Having previously showcased a blend of Titanfall and Destiny vibes in our preview last year, the game has spent the last six months in various closed beta stages. Developer Studio369 is now inviting everyone to experience the game.
In conjunction with the open beta, MetalCore is upgrading to Unreal Engine 5, the industry's latest game engine utilized by many top AAA studios, promising smoother gameplay compared to its former Unreal Engine 4 setup.
The "MetalPunk Rhapsody" season will introduce the new seasonal format, with each season lasting approximately four weeks and offering limited-time rewards for players who ascend the ranks.
To enhance player immersion in MetalCore's lore, each season will spotlight a distinct faction from the game’s universe. The MetalPunk faction will take center stage in the first season, featuring themed content, skins, and narratives.
New gameplay features will include player-versus-environment (PvE) raids, allowing up to 10 players from the same faction to collaborate and defeat a formidable alien species to gather resources. This mode aims to enhance teamwork among players within their factions.
Additionally, vehicles and mechs will introduce new rarity and strength variables, alongside a “significant update” to the game’s mission system. Introductory missions have been improved for newcomers, along with fresh content for existing players.
The open beta follows the launch of MetalCore's native token MCG in June, coinciding with an earlier closed beta phase. Previously, players needed an Epic Games Store key or had to purchase one of five levels of Founders Packs to participate in the closed beta. Starting September 12, anyone can download the game and join in.
