The popular Solana NFT collection, Claynosaurz, is venturing into the gaming world through a partnership with leading mobile publisher Gameloft. The collaboration was announced on Thursday, and it aims to develop a mobile game based on the Claynosaurz franchise.

While detailed information about the game is still under wraps, the development team has hinted at a blend of a "choose your own adventure" format combined with gameplay elements reminiscent of the popular location-based game, Pokémon Go. The game will be launched on both Android and iOS devices.

Originally released as NFT collectibles on Solana in 2022, the digital dinosaur characters quickly gained popularity and later expanded into short-form content across social media, amassing over 350,000 followers. In addition to the mobile game, the studio plans to produce long-form Claynosaurz video content as well.

Nicholas Cabana, co-founder and creative director of Claynosaurz, described the partnership as a pivotal moment in the gaming industry, symbolizing a new approach to intellectual property development and community engagement.

“By providing players with true ownership of their digital assets and centering them in the experience, Gameloft is embracing this evolution. Their legacy is built on emerging technology and a forward-thinking culture,” Cabana stated, referencing Gameloft’s early role as a mobile game developer prior to the launch of the original iPhone.

“We're excited that they’ve chosen Claynosaurz as their partner in this pioneering mobile adventure,” he continued, “setting the stage for a bold, player-centric future in gaming."

Similar to the creators of Doodles, who have leveraged their NFT collectibles to explore various forms of media such as film, music, and live experiences, the Claynosaurz team expressed their intention to expand their franchise creatively for both Web2 and Web3 audiences. The game aims to bridge these communities without overtly emphasizing its crypto elements.

Gameloft boasts a strong history in mobile gaming, with original franchises like Asphalt and Modern Combat, along with numerous licensed games featuring brands like Disney. Claynosaurz marks Gameloft’s first collaboration with a Web3 intellectual property.
