On Wednesday, Stepn Go, the social iteration of the mobile move-to-earn game, announced its partnership with the renowned G-Shock watch brand from Casio to release a distinctive collection of co-branded NFT sneakers.
As part of the Virtual G-Shock project, which previously included digital watches and various collectibles, Casio will work together with FSL, the creator of Stepn Go, to launch a limited edition collection of 800 NFT sneakers on the Ethereum scaling network, Polygon.
These exclusive NFTs, inspired by the G-Squad sports line, will be available through a raffle mint event taking place from August 26-29 on MOOAR, FSL’s NFT marketplace. Each sneaker is priced at 10,000 GMT, approximately $1,175 at the time of this writing.
"Collaborating with Stepn Go allows us to seamlessly blend the physical and digital worlds in a groundbreaking manner," said Takahashi Oh, Casio's Senior GM of Timepieces, in a statement. "We are thrilled to provide our users with a fresh and interactive experience that fuses fitness with state-of-the-art technology."
Stepn first gained attention in 2022 as a move-to-earn game that rewards players with cryptocurrency for walking and running; however, players are required to buy NFT sneakers to earn crypto rewards.
Launched in May, Stepn Go for iOS and Android introduces social features that further motivate players to exercise, earn, and engage with friends. For instance, players can share their NFTs with friends and split the rewards or compete with each other.
