The creators of OpenSeason, a crypto-themed battle royale shooter game utilizing Ethereum NFT access passes, shared details on Monday about the studio's upcoming token airdrop, which will take place this week.

This week, holders of Fractional Uprising Studios NFT membership passes—currently required to play OpenSeason—will automatically receive a portion of the 62.1 million “FU Money” tokens designated for the initial airdrop, according to a company blog post. This amount represents 10% of the total FU token supply.

The distribution will be based on three wallet snapshots already taken; the longer a user has held the membership pass, the more FU tokens they will receive. The tokens will initially be available through Arbitrum, the Ethereum layer-2 scaling network.

On Monday, the Fractional Uprising Studios team—developers of the Fortnite-like OpenSeason available on the Epic Games Store—also outlined a long-term roadmap for the FU token.

Following this week’s airdrop, the remaining 90% of the token supply will be allocated as follows: 30% for community rewards over the next decade, 20% to the studio team with a six-month vesting period, 5% to a liquidity pool on Uniswap, and 35% for funding future projects from Fractional Uprising. This funding pool, referred to as “FUture Productions,” will be controlled by FU token holders and distributed through grants or other incentive models for builders, a company representative explained.

These funds will be locked for a year. “This is still something that I think we will discover as we move forward,” they said. “Hence, we decided to lock it for a year to not have to think about it so much for the moment and let time and our experience with [OpenSeason] reveal how to best approach this."

Even after this week’s airdrop, membership NFT holders will have ample opportunities to earn more “FU Money” over time. As OpenSeason becomes accessible to the general public beyond NFT pass holders, those with the pass will be able to refer friends to the game using an invite link and earn FU tokens not only for each referral but also as a commission on all the tokens earned by those friends in-game.
