Ubisoft, the renowned video game publisher known for Assassin’s Creed and Just Dance, just launcheda free NFT mint for its first original blockchain game, Champions Tactics: Grimoria Chronicles. Here’s the essential information about the upcoming free mint on Oasys.

The mint, which began yesterday July 15th, it features 75,000 in-game champion figurines available for free. Players won’t incur any gas fees, although holders of the existing Warlords NFTs will get priority and can claim additional champions.

The initial allows Warlords profile picture (PFP) NFT holders—originally minted on Ethereum and distributed for free last year—to mint up to five champion NFTs. Despite being free initially, Warlords NFTs are now valued at around $210 worth of ETH on secondary marketplaces. NFTgo data shows that the 9,999-item project has generated approximately $7.7 million in trading volume since last December’s mint.

For those without a Warlords NFT, the opportunity to mint free champion NFTs on Oasys begins Thursday, July 18. This phase will also be a free mint, requiring users to have a Ubisoft account, an Oasys wallet, and be at least 18 years old.

Champions Tactics: Grimoria Chronicles, a strategy game built on blockchain technology, was first announced by Ubisoft last summer. The company launched the first closed beta for the game last week and is now preparing for a full launch later this year.

Ubisoft is collaborating with decentralized cloud computing startup Aleph.im, a partner since the Ubisoft Quartz NFTs on Tezos, to facilitate the champions NFT mint. Aleph.im's "verifiable random function" feature will ensure a fair distribution of assets to users.
